Here is the true face of feminism! Some of its proponents even claim that it promotes equality . . . for women. How ‘gender-balanced’ is this?
Natalie Bennett (Greens), Nicola Sturgeon (SNP) & Leanne Woods (Plaid Cymru)
However, the reality (about feminists’ claims to promote ‘equality’ I mean) is different! For example, have you ever heard feminists press for the male equivalent of Lady Mayoress or Mayoress? The name is not important, but the position may be.
To the above coven one might add:
Ruth Davidson (Scottish Conservatives)
I’ve no objection to women being predominant, but I do find the rationale for promoting them counterfeit. Either they are the equal of men and do not need special treatment, or they need special treatment because they are not the equal of men! The easy solution of using women only short-lists not only avoids addressing the short-comings of current selection methods, but creates inequality and diminishes democracy.
In answer to the prescriptive doctrine that ‘Parliament should reflect society’, my response is: If they ~ females, non-Whites, non-English etc etc ~ are not represented by us, they will not represent us! This arbitrary approach is another means of nullifying true democracy, a means of reducing the natural majority and its interests. [Odd how the above examples are not English . . . perhaps not after all!]
Finally, in answer to the oft repeated refrain that women make up half the population, I say that the English make up more than half the population of England. (Well we do at the moment!) Moreover, if it is acceptable to promote women, it should be even more acceptable (certainly in a democracy) to promote the English! After all, although ‘Sex’ is a protected characteristic [See Sections 4 & 11 of the Equality Act 2010], so also is ‘Nationality’ [See Sections 4 and 9(1)(b) of the same Act.]
The reality is that we English are discriminated against on an industrial scale by the Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish and Brit fraudsters in power over us. Oh that the scales would drop from the eyes of the majority of electors in England and that we would elect individuals who truly represent us and England’s interests!
