Mr Gove emanates from Aberdeen. Odd how emigres, especially of the Scottish variety, want to inflict “Britishness” on England! To hear much of the chatter on BBC radio, who would imagine that Michael Gove MP is the Secretary of State for Education in ENGLAND!
Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education in ENGLAND ~ unable to see any English values for England’s schools!
Gordon Brown (‘pledged to make the interests of the Scottish people paramount‘) inflicted “Britishness” lessons on schools in 2008 whilst he was BRITISH prime minister, but only on schools in England! Now in Scotland . . . . that’s a different matter; THEY have devolved power over THEIR schools!
Gordon Brown, supports the ‘Better Together’ campaign to continue milking England for Scotland’s benefit
Experience shows that, with Scots in power, it’s one rule for them and another for the English! Evidence mounts day-by-day that in the British Parliament there is an undeclared practice (if not policy) of seeking to diminish England and the English with the eventual aim of eradicating both. Being British enables Scots and others to come to England and boss us around, often to our detriment. There is no one more British than a Scot in England, but in Scotland . . . .

Don’t forget that Mr Brown ensured that wifey Sarah was in Scotland for the birth of each of their children. So much for his ‘Britishness’!
More “Britishness” propaganda can be found here: http://www.york.ac.uk/ipup/projects/britishness/discussion/curricula.html where someone called Helen Weinstein introduces a dissertation on behalf of a self-appointed group called “Institute for the Public Understanding of the Past” (IPUP); being English does not feature.

A result of the British Parliament and its agencies is that, for example, Shahid Malik erstwhile MP for Dewsbury identified himself as a ‘British Muslim’, whilst Hardeep Singh Kohli styles himself as a Scottish Sikh. Another example is Sarika Watkins-Singh who declared herself ‘Proud to be Welsh and a Sikh’. [HERE’S A LINK: http://www.theguardian.com/education/2008/jul/30/schools.religion]
To me, it is no mere coincidence that the riots which took place in 2011 were confined to England. Indeed, the trail of those disruptions is instructive! Starting in London (now widely regarded as the least English of England’s cities) after the police shooting of a black man, they continued in Bristol, then several districts of Birmingham and the West Midlands, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and other areas.
NOTE: There has been no public acknowledgement of this particular feature of the 2011 disturbances in the British Parliament or Press.
Yesterday (10th June) I heard, courtesy of BBC Radio Four’s “World at One” programme, a Scot opining on Britishness in England of course! I also heard David Cameron (whose father was a Scot from Aberdeen) pontificating about British values in ALL of Britain’s schools! Has he not yet discovered that Education is a devolved matter with the sole exception of England, which can be the only nation to which his remarks apply! Cameron studiously rations any references he makes explicitly about ‘England’ to sports matters eg the England Football Team.
Today I’ve also heard sanctimonious references to ‘freedom, tolerance, mutual respect, respect for the law, and British institutions’ being British values, certainly they are limited in their application to England!
FREEDOM: England alone of Britain’s nations has no freedom to determine its Education, Health Services, Social Care, Transport, Local Government &c.
TOLERANCE: The British Parliament will not tolerate a national body akin to Scotland’s to administer England’s affairs!
MUTUAL RESPECT: Neither the British Parliament (nor the Scottish Assembly) accord the people of England a collective say about whether Scotland should remain in or leave the Union, thereby demonstrating a lack of mutual respect.
RESPECT FOR THE LAW: Successive British governments have treated England and the English less favourably than (for example) Scotland in breach of, first, the Race Relations Act 1976 and, subsequently, the Equality Act 2010!
Mr Cameron your frequent pronouncements, in particular about England and the English, are too often no more than humbug!
