Ed Miliband visited Thurrock today to deliver a ‘keynote’ speech . . . he managed to use the word ‘England’ once!
I understood him to say that he is in favour of more immigration but opposes a referendum on the question of continued membership of the EU! All of Miliband’s waffle is summed up in this part of his speech; they are his words:
“Some people will tell you that closing ourselves off from the world will deliver for working people.
It will harm working people.
Think of all the jobs here that still rely on trade. [But not necessarily with EU countries!]
That’s why our future lies in the European Union.
What does it mean for immigration?
I am the son of immigrants. [Refugees, asylum seekers!]
I am proud of the contribution my parents made to this country. [Here, Miliband conflates asylum seekers, which his parents were, with economic immigrants!]
I believe immigration benefits our country as a whole.
But it needs to be properly managed.”
I repeat: Miliband is in favour of more immigration but opposes a referendum on the question of continued membership of the EU, and his references to “this country” and “our country” are references to England which accommodates over 90% of immigrants to the UK!
As I have opined previously: immigrants, especially immigrants in power, beget yet more immigrants! Somehow they feel unable to pull up the draw bridge. What a shame (a double standard) that they do not feel the same about imposing fees for the university education many of them enjoyed gratis!
