European Elections – Nominations for South West England – Official List
So due to England having to fit in with Bank Holidays in Gibraltar, the South West England EU Region is on a slightly different timetable to the rest of England and the UK.
This gives us an opportunity to see which parties will be standing across England and Great Britain in the 2014 EU Elections before all of the other EU Regions of the UK in 48 hours time.
An Independence from Europe Party or some might say the “Mike Natrass ‘sulk’ party” appears to only exist to take some votes away from UKIP. Running under the name and description “An Independence from Europe UK Independence Now”. A very similar reason for being as the 2009 UK First political party, that stood in 3 Regions of England and gained circa 2.3% – mainly by taking confused UKIP voters – looks like Mike Natrass is trying to do the same thing to UKIP in 2014.
Would the Electoral Commission have approved registration of this party had it been a case of a pro-EU party splitting the vote for another pro-EU party? Somehow we doubt it!
British National Party Running under the 2014 ballot paper slogan of British National Party – Because we can make Britain better. The question that immediately comes to mind is “how” can the BNP make Britain better, especially when UKIP appears to have captured the vast majority of British Nationalist voters.
Conservative Party Running under the 2014 ballot paper slogan of Conservative Party For real change in Europe. As there has been no “real change”for the past four years under a Conservative led government, it is difficult to believe that the Conservative & Unionist party have anything significant in mind.
English Democrats Running under the tried and tested English Democrats ballot paper slogan of English Democrats – “Putting England First”!, Alan England and his team are of course the only political party on the ballot paper who will stand up for England and the English. With an extensive leafleting campaign planned, the result in the south west of England for the English Democrats should be interesting to see, especially now that the English Democrats are campaigning for English Independence.
Green Party The Green Party of England & Wales, does not have a ballot paper slogan. However, it is worth noting that the Green Party of England & Wales, with an Australian leader, is the only party other than the English Democrats which supports Scottish Independence. So, if you wish to vote for a “left leaning” party supporting Scottish Independence in the South West Region then the Greens are the only choice.
Labour Party Labour does not have a ballot paper slogan. The main question to ask of Labour is whether (as in the South East Region) Labour are fielding any Scots on their South West list. A weird state of affairs given that Scotland may soon be a foreign country. Never mind, there’s no one more British than a Scot in England!
Liberal Democrats Liberal Democrats are not using a ballot paper slogan, but it should be interesting watching the electorate turn away from the Liberal Democrats in 2014. They received 221,235 votes in 2009 in South West England.
UK Independence Party (UKIP) For British Nationalists [somewhat a contradiction in terms here!] the UKIP “train” for the 2014 EU Elections appears to be unstoppable at the time of writing. UKIP is of course a British Nationalist Party, and has no time for “England” or the “English”, preferring “Britain” and the “British”.
To conclude, there are now only eight political parties which are standing in all of England’s regions.
Namely for South West England
1/ An Independence from Europe – UK Independence Now (Mike Nattrass Party)
2/ British National Party – Because we can make Britain better
3/ Conservative Party – For real change in Europe
4/ English Democrats – Putting England First!
5/ Green Party
6/ Labour Party
7/ Liberal Democrats
8/ UK Independence Party (UKIP)
Those parties failing to stand across England, which did stand in 2009 (Figures from the South West 2009) are:-
Christian Party “Proclaiming Christ’s Lordship”…..21,329 1.4%
Socialist Labour Party……………………………….10,033 0.6%
No2EU – Yes to Democracy……………………….. 9,741 0.6%
Jury Team……………………………………………..5,758 0.4%
A potential 54,000+ votes in South West England in 2009 looking for a new home in 2014!
