Do you really continue to believe that the Tories represent England and her interests?
A scion from one of the established Conservative grandee families (Jacob Rees-Mogg), referring to the increasing number of the English who would be happy to see Scots vote for separation next year, said: “We should argue back to those people that the view of the nation [he means ‘state’, the UK is not a ‘nation’!] that they take becomes narrow if it’s purely English, makes us such a small, shrunken, shrivelled place that we need to accept that the cost of the Union is this over-representation of the smaller parts that come into it.
Jacob Rees-Mogg, old before his time!
If you don’t believe me, read the Telegraph’s report here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scotland/10344129/Jacob-Rees-Mogg-English-should-tolerate-Scots-favouritism-for-sake-of-UK.html
As I have previously recorded, Tories (in common with Lib Dems and Labour) purport to represent minorities. Not only is this (by definition) anti-democratic, it is largely unrepresentative and permits them to pursue their own unwanted agendas such as refusing referenda on questions about continued EU membership or a separate parliament for England lest the majority gets its way.
Worse, by tolerating the vast “over-representation of the smaller parts” of the UK, the Coalition, aided and abetted by Labour politicians, inflict costs of the reckless profligacy of Scottish bankers based in Edinburgh on the people of England! Yes, the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Bank of Scotland are responsible for at least 40% of the British National Debt of £1.2 Trillion, but it is the people of England who are suffering the austerity imposed by the British Parliament, whilst people in Scotland are protected from the worst of such cuts in order to bribe them to vote ‘No’ in the forthcoming Scottish Referendum on the future of the UK.
It is OUR schools, OUR hospitals, OUR Social & Care Services &c which, disproportionately and unfairly, are bearing the brunt!
Jacob, we really would be better off without moaning, ever complaining Scots! Then, perhaps, we can run our own affairs, the first item of business being to get rid of unrepresentative folk like you! We don’t mind eccentrics, but we prefer them to be English and loyal to England.
